The Art of Hope
Sometimes, when I listen to what is happening in the world, I can feel hopeless and heavy. On those days, it feels as if I need to paint against hopelessness — against a wave of darkness moving over me, or us. So I begin, as always, with a single dot and one colour. But on those days, I make sure it is bright, filled with light and every bit of love I can muster.
As if feeding someone who is hungry, I fill that first brushstroke with as much nurturing as I can possibly feel, making it rich and alive.
Hope is the spark that keeps us going when things feel difficult. It’s that quiet voice inside that reminds us tomorrow can be better, no matter what today brings. And sometimes, that voice comes not from within, but from someone beside us — a friend or loved one who helps us remember.
During my time in the south of France, this feeling grew even stronger. Each morning began in silence, the studio bathed in soft golden light, the air carrying the scent of herbs and vineyards. In those quiet hours, I felt hope return — first as a whisper, then as a steady presence. With each brushstroke, the colours deepened, as if the paintings themselves were breathing light back into the world.
As a human being, and as an artist, I feel a deep responsibility to expand hope as far as I can. To expand love and light. To be a reminder, to gently “infect” those around me with it, not to deny the darkness, but to balance it.
Hope anchors us and propels us forward. There are always stories of loss and sadness, but there are just as many stories of joy, kindness, and renewal happening alongside them.
I hope these new artworks serve as small reminders to hold onto your dreams, to embrace the unknown with courage, to feel deeply, to breathe, and to find hope again, and again, and again.
So that together, we might each have a small but positive impact on this world.
With lots of love,
Kirana xx
What's On:
3 Weeks in Siran, France - Saturday 18 October at 3PM
After three weeks immersed in an artist residency in Siran, France, I’ve returned with a body of work shaped by rooftops and vineyards, by long days in the studio, and by the quiet joy of uninterrupted creation.
What has emerged on canvas carries the rhythm of that time — the dreamer, the rebel, and the deep sense of belonging that comes when art and place intertwine.
You are warmly invited to the opening of my new exhibition, “3 Weeks in Siran, France.”
Opening Event
Saturday 18 October, 3PM
Exhibition Dates
18 October – 8 November
Viewing Times
Mondays & Wednesdays: 10AM – 4PM
Saturdays: 9AM – 2PM
These paintings are fragments of that journey — works born from light, memory, and the spirit of place. I can’t wait to share them with you.
Studio Archive Release
From 8 – 15 October, I’ll be opening the Studio Archive and releasing a small collection of earlier works. These paintings have travelled with me through different seasons of making — shifting palettes, experiments, and quiet discoveries. They have been part of my journey, and now it feels the right time for them to find new homes.
The release is available online and in person, with all works offered at 30% below their original valuation. A further 10% of proceeds will be donated to Communities for Communities — a Sydney-based charity close to my heart that helps build stronger, safer, and more connected communities both here and abroad.
Tomorrow, on Saturday 11 October from 9AM–2PM and Wednesday 15 October from 10am-4pm, the studio will open its doors for an intimate viewing at 72 St Albans Street, Abbotsford NSW 2046. You’re warmly invited to step inside, see the works in person, and connect with them up close.
For those unable to attend, I also welcome private appointments, including FaceTime or Zoom viewings. To arrange a time, please contact me at kirana@kiranahaag.com or 0448 446 466.
This Archive Release is both a letting go and a celebration — a way of honouring what has been created while making space for what is still to come.
The Pulse exhibition opens tonight at Art Lovers Australia Gallery in Melbourne.
I’m delighted to have four of my works included in this beautiful show — Circus, Moon Rising Over the Bay, In the Contemporary Garden Tea House, and Some Mornings. Together, they explore rhythm, colour, and the quiet movement of emotion across the canvas.
Pulse celebrates pattern, rhythm, and abstraction as visual expressions of life itself — that delicate balance between chaos and calm, repetition and transformation. It’s an exhibition that vibrates with energy, inviting viewers into a dialogue between movement and stillness, between what we see and what we feel.
If you’re in Melbourne, I hope you’ll join the opening tonight or visit while the exhibition continues through to 20 December 2025.
Opening Night

Kirana Haag x ArtSHINE Threadless Collection
I’m excited to share something a little different — my artwork is now part of a new Threadless collection with ArtSHINE.
Through this collaboration, a selection of my paintings has been reimagined across a range of beautiful, everyday pieces — from fine art prints and T-shirts to tote bags, phone cases, cushions, and even skateboards. Each item carries a small part of my creative world, bringing colour and emotion into the moments that make up daily life.
It’s a joy to see my art find new forms and reach people in unexpected ways — to become part of the stories we live and the spaces we create.
